1:34am
Late night lyricism
Trauma,
Baked in layers through my being,
I’m having trouble sleeping -
I’ve been this way before.
A croissant of insomnia.
Saw you,
Not long ago, you seemed cleaner,
Your iris speckled helix.
I’d not seen that for so long;
Europa’s waxing gibbous.
And I,
Choked up when I heard your voice,
A chorus I had longed to host;
Maddened by its deafening -
Silent reverence, when I needed it.
Smiling I asked;
“How have you been?”
As if I’d never screamed,
Into a pillow as I watched you leave -
1:34am.
Finger nails, burr into my palm,
The pain of it will keep me from,
Grabbing your wrist -
Beg; “Please just take me back,
Let’s do it all again.”
It’s 1:34am once more,
I seem to notice every time.
I compulsively try not to sleep;
So I won’t see you,
In my dreams,
Turning away, disgustedly -
As you fall out of love with me,
1:34am.
